The Alpharetta High School Orchestra was established during the fall of 2004. With only forty members and two orchestras in its inaugural year, the orchestra program has swelled to nearly two hundred members and three orchestras in just four years. The Alpharetta High School orchestra program has made its name known throughout the state and the country. Alpharetta High School's orchestras have performed at state conventions, the Midwest Orchestra Convention, and Carnegie Hall. The school's top orchestra - the Alpharetta High School Symphony Orchestra - has received superior ratings every year during the GMEA Large Group Performance and Evaluation. Now in its fifth year, the orchestras continue to push towards being nationally competitive. This year, the Symphonic Orchestra will perform during the 2009 ASTA Convention held in Atlanta, Georgia.
With the renovation of the music suite during the summer of 2008, the Alpharetta High School orchestras have added larger rehearsal rooms and many practice rooms to meet its growing program needs. Come and check us out!
Congratulations to the AHS Symphony Orchestra for being selected to perform at the Georgia Music Educators In-Service Conference as an Honor Group in Savannah in January 2010!
(Depending on when we perform, we will either leave Wednesday evening January 27th or Thursday Morning January 28th. We will return sometime Saturday January 30th. If you are in AHS Symphony, make plans now to gone during that time - Mr. Fisher will have an estimated cost for you in August.)
Don't forget about the orchestra rehearsals to be held before the start of school! Feel free to print out a tentative schedule (right-click and select 'Save File As') for next year for reference.
