Sheldon Fisher, Director

Sheldon is the Director of Orchestras at Alpharetta High School and Creek View Elementary in Fulton County. He received his BME in 1976 and his MED (music) in 1978 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. Sheldon received his National Board Certification in November of 2004. While teaching 20 years in Oklahoma he was a member of ASTA, Phi Beta Mu, MENC and OMEA holding state offices in OMEA and ASTA. In 1987, he was chosen to participate in a conducting master class with Carl St. Clair, former assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony. Sheldon has also performed with the Tulsa Philharmonic. During his years in Oklahoma, Sheldon's students participated in five European concert tours, the latest tour in June of 1994 was for the Musical Celebration of the 50th Commemoration of “D”day. In November 1994 he hosted the “Grande National Stroll” for over 800 students across the United States.

Since moving to Fulton County Georgia the students of his High School Orchestras have earned consistent superior ratings at GMEA Performance Evaluation, he has hosted numerous GMEA Performance Evaluation events and has served on many committees for both GaASTA/NSOA and GMEA. He has served as the GMEA District V Chair and is currently the GaASTA/NSOA Co-Director of the GaASTA Summer Orchestra Camps along with Tim Anderson. This past summer Sheldon studied conducting on the campus of VanderCook School of Music with Kirk Muspratt. Active as a clinician, he has presented for District and Regional workshops State Conventions in Oklahoma and Georgia as well as Orchestra Workshops at “The Ohio State University” and at USC in Columbia, SC. As a guest conductor, Sheldon has been on the podium for many local and District Honor Orchestra events and summer camps. He is the Founder and Director of “Fiddle Team Fulton”. Sheldon and his wife Susan are members of First Baptist Church Roswell where he sings in the choir and the gospel quartet “Covenant”. He also plays violin in the Church Orchestra and a blue grass group called “Born in a Barn” as well as being the director for 2nd and 3rd Grade Music Makers Choir. Their son, Jeremy Fisher, is a Culinary Arts major at Kendrick College in Chicago and their daughter, Jenifer, is an Early Childhood Education major at Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
